The Board of the Thomas Jefferson District of the Unitarian Universalist Association
The Thomas Jefferson District (TJD) Board is comprised of 10 elected members and two ex-officio members. The congregations elect the TJD Board members and officers through their delegates to the TJD annual meeting held in the spring of each year. Terms for each elected office are defined in the TJD By-laws.
The Board appoints a number of District committees to assist them in its work. These include the Chalice Lighters Committee, DE Advisory Committee, Growth and Development Council, Liaisons Committee, Nominating Committee, and Religious Education Committee.
The Trustee to the Unitarian Universalist Association Board from the TJD is also elected by the delegates to the TJD annual meeting. The TJD District Executive is hired by the TJD Board and the UUA.
Covenant The TJD Board and staff have established this as our covenant for working together:
We, the leaders of the Thomas Jefferson District, covenant with each other to be accountable to ourselves and our member congregations by living out our values in a transparent, compassionate and caring way. We will listen with our minds and hearts, and act with integrity and forgiveness to work for the transformation of ourselves, the district and our world.
