The District Executive and the Director of Faith Development are co-employed by the TJD and the UUA. The District Administrator and the Social Justice Coordinator are employees of the TJD. We are very fortunate to have four highly competent and committed staff members.
Annette Marquis
Annette Marquis, District Executive Annette became District Executive for the Thomas Jefferson District in April 2006. Since becoming a Unitarian Universalist in 1991, she has been an active lay leader within Unitarian Universalist congregations, the Heartland district, and the Association at large. She was one of the founding members of UU Allies for Racial Equity and served as its chair for its first two years. As a volunteer for UU Trauma Response Ministry, Annette provided mental health and other disaster relief to victims of Hurricane Katrina.
Annette received her master’s degree in Social Work from Boston University in 1981 and has worked as an administrator and executive director of numerous not-for-profit organizations, including mental health and chemical dependency treatment programs. Since 1995, she has been a partner in a software consulting and training firm, TRIAD Consulting, based in Traverse City, MI.
Annette currently lives in Richmond, VA with her partner, Wendy, and enjoys women’s basketball, hiking, writing, and new technology.
Sue Sinnamon
The Reverend Sue Sinnamon, Director of Faith Development Sue has served as a religious education professional since 1983. She most recently served as the Associate Minister for Religious Education at the Unitarian Church of Evanston. Her background includes Unitarian Universalist Life Span Religious Education, Humanistic and Transpersonal Education and lifespan models of spiritual growth and development. She has served on the Meadville Lombard Winter Institute Committee; taught Creating Intergenerational Community and Spirituality in the Second Half of Life at Star Island's Religious Education Week; served in the CMWD Consultants Program; chaired the Board of the Jung Institute of Chicago and served on the Housing Commission for the City of Evanston, IL.
In her 20 years of parish ministry, Sue has loved creating opportunities for intergenerational activities and in addition to extensive experience with social justice programming, she loves combining the arts with religious education. Sue believes that each part of our spiritual journey has its own integrity and lessons from the earliest years through the second half of life. Sue began her position with the TJD August 15, 2007. She lives in Williamsburg, VA with her husband, John Kerr, who is serving as the Episcopal Chaplain at the College of William and Mary and Bruton Parish, and her cat, Bert the Bengal. Sue loves entertaining (especially the cooking), reading, and beaches.
Donna Sequeira, Racial and Social Justice Coordinator Donna earned a Master of Divinity degree from Starr King School for the Ministry where she focused her studies on developing and delivering anti-oppressive and multi-cultural education. She has extensive experience in public speaking, community organizing, fundraising and technology. She has a lifelong commitment to building relationships in and across religious communities to effect social change. Her advocacy work has included civil rights, marriage equality, reproductive health and health care reform. Her passion is providing opportunities to build relationships which lead to action and can be reflected upon to deepen spiritual growth and transform lives.
Donna has been active in UU congregations for the last 10 years including serving as President of the UU Fellowship of Redwood City. She serves as a Beyond Categorical Thinking trainer for the UUA. She currently lives in Williamsburg, VA with her spouse, Margaret, who serves as Director of Lifespan Faith Development for the Williamsburg Unitarian Universalists and their daughter, Mollie. She enjoys cooking, spending time with her family, reading and exploring historical sites.
Glenn Johnson
The Reverend Glenn Johnson, District Administrator Glenn cames to the District with more than eight years experience as a large-church administrator where he administered 2,600- and 1,800-member Presbyterian and Methodist congregations. Glenn is certified as a Fellow in Church Business Administration by the National Association of Church Business Administration. In 1998, Glenn was ordained by his Baptist church as a Minister of Administration.
Glenn is exceptionally committed to church administration and is thrilled to be working for the Unitarian Universalists at this point in his personal faith journey. Glenn has a B.A. from Vanderbilt University in English. Prior to working in church administration, he spent 23 years as co-owner and Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for Bush Stationers, a 10-store retail chain in Charlotte, NC. In this position, he had extensive experience in personnel management and advertising.
